Urbane style
Planters of distinctive elegance and quality set special accents on the terrace, in courtyards or gardens, for generations to come. Suitable for use all year round, Grenoble planters display flowers, grasses and small shrubs in selected locations. The handsome plant containers with refined details, are meticulously handcrafted in a factory near Dresden.
Particularly high-quality aluminium with a powder coating, sophisticated design, and an ingenious system, which prevents waterlogging and provides protection from frost, ensure that the beauty and quality of Grenoble planters will delight their owners well into the future. Decorative spheres on the framed corner elements set a classic accent, while an image of the Garpa headquarters is incorporated as a relief on one of the side panels.
Proven functionality
All Grenoble Petit planters are supplied with a fleece cover, a drainage layer of lava stones, and an inlay made of synthetic material with a water drainage system that protects the plants from waterlogging. A blind plug allows the planter to be used indoors. The particularly resistant aluminium used for the frame is absolutely weatherproof and reliably withstands moisture and permafrost. The lower planting height, in comparison with the large model of the collection, is particularly suitable for plants with shallower root growth. They must be protected from frost in winter.
Winter protection for sensitive plants
Non-hardy potted plants must be brought indoors before the frost period begins. Some Mediterranean plants such as olive, agapanthus, fig or oleander can withstand temperatures as low as minus five degrees and can therefore remain outdoors until November. An ideal winter quarter for these species would be a greenhouse or conservatory. A cool, bright room, a stairwell or a cellar with good ventilation, also provide reliable conditions for overwintering. During their dormant phase the plants should be watered sparingly.
Hardy plants such as ornamental grasses, boxwood, hydrangeas, roses or small shrubs require additional protection to prevent the root ball from freezing through. Suitable materials include coconut mats or sheep's wool, jute or fleece, which can be wrapped around the sides of the containers. The plant parts above ground can also be protected from frost with jute or light-coloured fleece, and a covering for the root ball such as a disc of coconut matting or a layer of cardboard is also an insulation against the cold. The four adjustable feet, which maintain a space between the container and the ground, also prevent the water drainage hole from freezing over. Outdoors this should not be closed with the blind plug during the winter.
